Current Exhibition
By Roger Burrell
Earth from Above: an aerial portrait of our planet – towards sustainable development by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
I was recently in Sydney, Australia to attended the Gluten Free & Allergy Expo at Darling Harbour. Arriving an hour early, I took the time to view the spectacular aerial photographic exhibition by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, titled: Earth from Above.
The photographer undertook the ambitious project to visually record the state of the planet at the start of the new millennium and since the exhibition first opened in Paris in 2000, over 50 million people in over 100 cities have viewed these inspiring images.
Visit Yann Arthus-Bertrand to download a selection of free wallpaper images and learn about Good Planet.org, a non-profit association for the promotion of sustainable development.
Book Review: The Ethics of What We Eat
By Roger Burrell
If we are what we eat, then surely we should all take a little more time in examining where our food comes from, and what the food label actually means.
In 'The Ethics of What we Eat', authors Peter Singer and Jim Mason follow up their seminal classic 'Animal Factories' with another thought provoking and investigative book, this time delving into the ethics of what we are eating.
Singer and Mason cover 'SAD' - the 'Standard American Diet', encouraging readers to question such myths as 'Is bigger naturally better?, and uncover the hidden costs of 'cheap chicken'.
- Is it unethical to raise children vegan?
- Are vegans better for the environment?
- What does 'Organic' really mean?
- Is local produce always the best option?
Read this book before your next shop, discuss the issues raised with your kids and family over your evening meal, share the information with your neighbour. And most of all, make the time to contact the multi national food giants and ask them the 'tough questions': What's in your products, where do you buy your ingredients, do you support fair trade?
Most food producers now have a consumer information line. Use it, and vote with your shopping dollar.
For more information on the authors visit: Peter Singer and Jim Mason.

Are Your Lipsticks and Makeup Killing You Softly?
By Nancy Evans
Every day women are putting their lives at risk by using dangerous chemicals in the endeavour to look beautiful. Most women would be horrified to know that 17 commonly used ingredients in today's average lipstick are potential carcinogens.
Add to this, the fact that the average woman ingests between 8 & 12kg (17 & 26 lbs) of lipstick over her lifetime, this becomes an issue for serious concern.

Free ebook - Heal Your Healing Business, by Anthony Turner. With over 20 years of practical, successful 'hands on' experience in Natural Health marketing & business, Heal your Healing Business has become on of the leading specialist Business & Marketing Consultancy Service helping many businesses - just like yours.
In 2004, after 10 years as an international pole vaulter, David Gordon joined a team of Gurkhas (as the film maker) in a successful manhaul expedition across Greenland, one of the great untouched wildernesses left on earth. This experience, as well as a long held interest in the future of the planet, brought about a year long search for viable and environmentally sustainable business ideas. Something that might actually make a difference.
As David says: "I'm no longer living in daily fear of going bankrupt! Not unless I really mess it up...It's now about making that difference and doing something useful. Once people know about bamboo they love it, it's all about awareness, people knowing that it exists and that it's better than other clothing... A recent Mintel report said that just 1 in 6 consumers consider ethics or environment when making a purchasing decision. Bam appeals greatly to the other 5 as well, which is why we're seeing this stunning growth."
