Green Food Supplements

Most western diets are high in processed foods which create high levels of acid in the body. Green food supplements (or superfoods) help alkalinise the body.

About Green Food Supplements

To get the most benefit from vitamins and minerals, a person's total intake should come in a form that is as close to a natural and organic state as possible. Unfortunately many of the fruit and vegetables we buy today are nutrient deficient. It is not always possible to purchase and consume fresh, organically grown vegetables and fruits.

Green food supplements, based on natural plant (phyto-based) ingredients, can help to alkalise, energise, and nourish your cells as they balance your body's pH level.

Wheatgrass & Barleygrass

Wheatgrass and barleygrass are the tender shoots of sprouted wheat grain or barley grain. Dr Ann Wigmore, the pioneer of the healing and nutritional properties of wheat grass, maintained that the juice of wheatgrass contains all the elements the body needs to revitalise and rebuild. It provides essential vitamins such as C, B-complex, A and E as well as vital minerals, amino acids and enzymes to aid the body in elimination of waste.

Sea Greens

Sea Greens (or Sea Vegetables) are well known for being naturally rich in iodine, a key mineral required for proper thyroid and body function.

Studies undertaken at McGill University concluded that edible seaweeds can offer superior protection from radiation and heavy poisoning. Algin, a component of sea greens like kelp and alaria, was shown to bind to heavy metals and chemical pollutants in the intestinal tract, allowing them to be safely eliminated from the body. Sea plant algin even binds to radioactive strontium (one of the most hazardous atomic pollutants), radioactive iodine-131, barium, zinc, and cadmium, eliminating them before they can accumulate within the body. Sea greens are said to be so effective that the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission recommends that people consume two to three ounces of sea greens a week for maximum protection against radiation poisoning.

Chlorella & Spirulina

Chlorella is a single celled fresh water micro algae, and is one of nature's richest sources of Chlorophyll. It is high in phytonutrients and antioxidants which can offer protection against toxins and other pollutants.

Spirulina has been consumed by many native cultures as a highly valued natural food for centuries.

Organically grown Spirulina contains concentrations of organic nutrients including: vitamins and minerals (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12.), beta-carotene, vitamin E, iron, manganese and zinc, enzymes, trace elements, digestible proteins, all the essential amino acids and nucleic acids (RNA & DNA).

Oxygen Radical Absorption (or Absorbance) Capacity

ORAC is a method of measuring antioxidant capacities of different foods. That is, it quantifies the degree and length of time it takes to inhibit the action of an oxidising agent - specifically oxygen radicals - known to cause damage to the delicate machinery of living cells. Substances assayed can include natural products such as fruits and vegetables, beverages, supplements, plasma and serum. Antioxidants 'sponge up' or remove free radicals.
